Converting PDF into text

Hello,

I've just downloaded an e-book which is in DRM PDF format. My JAWS can't read any of it when I open it. I'm just wondering if there are any programs which will convert this type of PDF into text?

Thanks in advance...

Acrobat reader can convert pdf to text - just open file and sav as text..
But if it's protected, you must find some software like pdf password remover or something like that.

A good program for this is made by passware. You have to pay for it though. Not sure what it costs.

Er. I just reread that post, and realized I should've illaborated. That program from passware will remove the copy protection. You still have to convert it to text either from within acrobat reader, or with a third party program. If you want a 3rd party program, I know there's a command line pdf2txt program, as wel as one that'll convert it to a .doc file that I've heard good things about. Sorry I don't have any websites for these off hand.

PDF2TXT is made by Jamal Mazrui of EmpowermentZone.com. You can find a link for it on the the JAWS users programs page [opens in new window].

Yeah, I'd go with the pdf2txt program. It's very easy to use. I have used the one someone else mentioned that converts to doc files too, and liked that just as much. It depends on what format you want, but it really won't matter that much either way. Anyway, both of those programs are free, so I would recommend either one.
